A Tale of Two Revolutions: The American and Industrial Revolutions
The Friends of the Delaware Canal will host its 14th Annual Faces and Places – A Celebration of the Arts and History along the Delaware Canal on Sunday, October 6th. This year’s event will take place in and around Washington Crossing and Delaware Canal State Park.
The Washington Crossing State Park, a beacon for visitors far and wide, holds a unique and significant place in our nation’s history. Our Faces and Places will focus on the importance of this area in determining the birth of our nation, a fascinating and inspiring story.
We will begin our event at the park’s northern end. The Friends of Washington Crossing Park will lead our tour of The Thompson-Neely Farmstead. The Thompson-Neely House has been recently renovated and restored. We will also learn about one of the six remaining camelback bridges that span the canal.
Next, we travel to the park’s southern end, where our guides will take us on a tour of the Hibbs House, the Blacksmith’s Shop, and the Durham Boat Barn and highlight several historic buildings in an area once called Taylorsville.
The Delaware Canal sprang out of the industrial revolution and runs through both the lower and upper parks. Our event offers a unique opportunity to delve into the canal’s rich history and its significant role in the area’s growth.
The finale will be dinner at the Washington Crossing Inn. Known for its food and excellent service, the Inn will undoubtedly top off our event with style and leave you with a memorable experience.
Come be a part of this unique event and help us celebrate our shared history. We hope you can join us.
