Water is Flowing Again in the North

Water is Flowing Again in the North

June 19, 2019

Water is again flowing in the Canal southward from the gate at the Lehigh River in Easton. The stone wall repair at Lock 20 is complete enough to allow water to flow by.

At the Narrows, formerly known as the Indian Rock Hotel.

Water problems in the north

Water problems in the north

November 16, 2017

Earlier this week, the water levels in the northern end of the Canal had to be drawn down because the wickets of Groundhog Lock needed to be repaired . (Yes, “sticky wickets.”) The Park maintenance staff took care of them, but while the water was low, two sinkholes were discovered between Lock 20 and Indian Rock Inn. The Park will be using the new Menzi to excavate and pour flowable fill into the holes to plug them. Knock on wood – water should return late next week.
