Loop Trails for Hikers and Bikers

Please note, due to construction projects, some of the Loop Trails are not available at this time.

There are four open options for riders and hikers to use as of March 28, 2025.

  • Centre Bridge to Lumberville and back on the New Jersey side (crossing over the footbridge) into Stockton
  • New Hope to Centre Bridge and back on the New Jersey side into Lambertville
  • Lower Makefield to Washington Crossing South (Rt. 532) and back on the New Jersey side into Ewing
  • Morrisville to Lower Makefield and back on the New Jersey side into Trenton

Loop-Trail-800For 30 miles the towpath trails of  Pennsylvania’s Delaware Canal State Park and New Jersey’s Delaware and Raritan Canal State Park parallel the Delaware River. This unusual proximity – combined with seven River bridges that connect the two canals – offers especially easy and interesting trips.

  • Hike or bike one loop – or combine loops
  • Explore river towns
  • Enjoy the outdoors
  • Take in the River views
  • Immerse yourself in history
  • Have fun!

You can download a PDF of loop maps here, and to add interest to your trek, find more information on landmarks and mile markers.

You can connect to the even more extensive Delaware Canal and Delaware and Raritan Canal towpath trails, as well as the 165-mile-long D&L Trail with its terminus in Wilkes Barre, PA. For more information:
