Beginner Paddle at the Giving Pond

Sunday, July 20, 2025 | 9:30 AM to 12:00 PM

Kayaking on the Giving pond
Kayaking on the Giving Pond

This paddling trip is reserved for first time paddlers. If you have paddled with us before, we will have another opportunity in September.

Join Katie Martens, Park Educator and FODC Executive Director Michael Ginder, for a beginning paddler’s excursion.

Learn paddling basics, including the equipment and strokes needed for an enjoyable experience.

This leisurely paddle is a perfect opportunity for beginners to dip their toes into the world of kayaking, offering a unique perspective of the flora and fauna from the water. We’ll listen and watch for wildlife and learn about the area’s natural history. Once a quarry, the Giving Pond is part of the Delaware Canal State Park and is adjacent to the Canal.

The Park will have 9 single kayaks and 2 tandem kayaks, equipped with PFDs and paddles, to loan.

PLEASE NOTE

There is a maximum of 13 participants for this paddle. The minimum age to participate in this program is 10. Anyone under the age of 15 must be in a tandem kayak with an adult.

Please register by Tuesday, July 15th on our website.

A $10 per boat donation is requested, payable on the day of the event. Reservations are accepted on a first-come-first-served basis.

Parking is available in the lower lot near the pond and the upper lot on River Road. We will meet by the pond.

Discover the fun of paddling!
