The camelback bridge near the Thompson-Neely House in Washington Crossing Historic Park. Monday, September 20. The Delaware River met the Canal in seven places in Yardley Borough. Fortunately the River crested before the Canal overtopped its banks. Sunday, September 19.
The Yardley Maintenance area barn was up to its doorknob in water. The rescue boat was just passing through the neighborhood. Sunday, September 19. The Maintenance Area barn after the flood waters had receded. Monday, September 20.
Flood waters topped the construction dam at Lock 11 in New Hope. Sunday, September 19. During the night the construction dam broke washing tons of silt, duckweed, and debris into and beyond the chamber of Lock 11. Monday, September 20.
The water pressure caused the collapse of a portion of the stone wall at the southern end of the Lock. Monday, September 20. The aftermath. Tuesday, September 21.
It’s back to shoveling and hauling for the Lock 11 construction workers.
