his is the place where we allow ourselves a few braggin’ rights. It’s our way of recognizing the countless hours of hard work put in by our generous volunteers on behalf of the public treasure we call the canal.

The Delaware Canal has been awarded the following official designations:

The National Register of Historic Places – 1974

National Historic Landmark – 1978

Delaware & Lehigh Navigation Canal National Heritage Corridor
(by Act of Congress) – 1988

National Recreation Trail – 1990

The Friends of the Delaware Canal have won the following honors:

• Winner of “Take Pride in America” Award First Prize 1990
Finalist 1988, 1989, and 1991
• Winner of “Take Pride in Pennsylvania” Award 1988, 1990, and 1991

Bucks County Route 32 (River Road), alongside which the Delaware Canal runs, has been honored with the following designations:

• Delaware River Scenic Drive, 1988
Designated by: National Park Service, U.S. Department of the Interior
